Drove to Yanmen Pass in Ying County. The pass is dominated by a segment of the Great Wall and is heritage listed. Cold up there – 3C!
Apparently, it’s the oldest pass in China (known as ‘Number One Pass’! This segment of the wall is approachable and we climbed 397 (Marg’s count) steps to walk a short way along it.

the Ying Country Wooden Pagoda (constructed 1056AD – world’s oldest existing
multi-storey wooden building)
And the
DiZiang…Daxiong halls

Most of
of us had pre-dinner drinks at a local small restaurant (no frills but just
cold beer and bites - cheap). Marg bought some porcelain stuff at the hotel (on
sale).
