Caught
the fast train south to Linfen where it was supposed to be a bit warmer than
Datong’s 7-10C. The station was like a large airport and the train was
comfortable (and provided lunch that we had ordered). One thing about the train, it
runs exactly on time so we get 3 minutes to get on and off. We had the bags
ready to get off in Linfen with Mary getting everybody ready in time (we are
all old, some had big bags, and on an earlier trip the train left with one of
the tour party still on board). Highest speed reached was 240 (less than the
over 300 in our previous Shanghai train & Nanjing Beijing trip)
Visited
the temple for Emperor Yao (2356 - 2255 BCE) built between 265 - 316 AD – not a religious site initially)
Next was
the China Gate (‘First gate under Heaven) built as a monument to Chinese
civilisation in Linfen
